I tend to agree Nik, sad, but true. I think the Glade organisers would have an amost impossible task reversing the dark element which seems to have mussled it's way into what has been such a beautiful festival the past 2 years. Although I must state that the security are obviously not the only ones to blame, there needs to be a more proactive education and welfare system at these parties, expecially when people are going to try powerfull drugs for the first time. The number of totaly confused and scared looking munters wandering about was quite disturbing. I tried my best to sort out as many of them as I could, but most of them were just plain unaproachable due to being so fucked up.

A story from DSI:
right, time to tell my wonderful fuckin story of my glade thanx to fuckin security!
I got there about Thursday lucnhtime and had no problems wat so ever until Friday afternoon wen...
i was quite happily sitting by my tent when i heard my mate had been caught doin drugs by the breaksday tent, his own fault in my eyes, but its the incidents that followed which fucked things up! My friend was off his head and they made him take him back to his tent to search his tent where me and a group of my friends were! I wud just like to add at this point they had no right too as he only had personnel on him! We heard this as my friend phoned one of us to say they were comin over, so we hid our drugs. On arrival of security i was leaning in my tent when the security stopped me and proceeded to search my tent and take everything i had (drugs and money), they also searched my friends tent and did the same. They filmed it aswell! They then shoved us in the back of a van and took us back to the security bit where instead of just throwing us out, which is wat i was expecting, they called the fucking police! We then spent Friday night in a police cell and we were released on bail for possession wiv intent to supply and now were facin a court case in september! So thank u very fuckin much security! I wud just like to add to this that after we were released we made our way back to the festival and jumped the fence in broad daylight at 5pm saturday afternoon... so your not doin ur job very well are u! Luckily we managed to enjoy the rest of the festival that we had paid for, but now iv got to deal with a court case!
I would just like to add to this that I am not a dealer, I just had a bottle o cid n some liquid k on me. AND... so you all now know the Law on tent searching... the security unless given permission by the secretary of state are not allowed to search your tent without your permission! This is because your tent counts as your private home and the only people who can search it are the police with a warrant! And because of this law im looking at gettin my case thrown out of court cuz all the evidence was gathered illegally! This was the mail i was sent by a trainee barrister friend...
im looking into the legality of the search and it seems as tho the under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 the only people authorised to carry out a search of premises are
''a constable, or other person authorised in that behalf by a general or special order of the Secretary of State''
this is covered under section 23 of the MDA 1971.
it looks as tho you may actually have a case here because i dont think the security guards were authorised to either search you or your premises. only a constable has such powers, so the evidence may have been gathered illegally.
I went to glade last year and had the best time of my life with the security doin there job and stayin on the fence as they were told to do, i understand theft and violence can not be tollerated... but the same laws apply to you security, so next year stay on the fence and the trouble makers will stay out. Saying that i dont know why im telling you cuz if it had anythin to do with me stuart and shadow wud not be employed next year!
I really hope this guy is right and gets them on a technicality!!

That very guy turned up in our campsite at some point on Saturday night and told us his story... it is disgraceful. I too really hope he manages to get the case thrown out. Just shows how important it is to know your rights I guess.

Don't think this has been posted here yet, I'm nicking it from GladTalk, but it's from the Glade organisers to DBM and they said he could make it public knowledge, so IMO it's for everyone to read:

Hi Paul,
We have hardly had a chance to get in into the feedback as yet - we ar still i post production,
although for us the post festival feedback is one of the most useful aspect of the forums, so we can
improve what we do year on year.
The security issues we are aware of and we will work hard to improve them next time - one thing it
is worth poiting out tho is this years security was a hell of an improvement in terms of making the
site secure - over 500 fence jumpers were caught and thrown out, and tent thefts were down by
70% on last year, which is very good considering there were 3000 more people in the campsites.
Clearly there is a balance to be struck, however, and we will strive to achieve it.
Thanks for your ongoing communication paul - if you wish to post the above then feel free.
Cheers man,
Nick

If he gets a decent lawyer, he should definatly by able to get it thrown out, considering as you say, the evidence was collected illigaly. Although if you admitted to posessing the stuff to the police in a recorded interview as they showed you as evidence, then that might over ride the collection of the evidence.

On Sunday night a girl began to scream in the tent next to ours. She was threatening to kill herself, beating the shit out of her boyfriend, yelling like she was in the exorcist. This continued for hours. Thinking getting security involved would be a bad idea as I have heard frequent horror stories and seen some scary security behaviour (anyone around on Sunday night at Leeds last year will have some stories,) we hiked up to the welfare tent to see if we could get a psychiatric nurse out, it seemed like she was having an extremely bad trip and needed help. It turned out that all the nurses bar one had gone home (on Sunday night? clubber's comedown trainwreck night?) and the one who came did nothing more than take the beaten boyfriend away for a cup of tea. When they returned the girl resumed hitting her boyfriend, passing security clearly heard the commotion and saw our worried faces and came over. Shockingly, they took their time before going in and acted with NO violence. Some of them were scary looking fucks but the ones we were chatting to were two juniors more of the average festival goer type despite the stormtrooper outfits. This surprised me. However, there will always be good and bad reports and I am not sure if this was Stuart or Shadow.

I would also like to know exactly how glade festival spent the extra money that we alll paid for tickets. The fence yet again was an absolute joke. Remember organisers that the fences they used are good for building sites, but shit for festivals.
Over the weekend I saw huge numbers of people with no wristbands, which is shit. I thought they were spending more money on security.
Instead they spent it on a bunch of mindless, stupid thugs who enjoyed nothing more than going around looking for hippies to beat up. The security were no better than small town bouncers, and were probably less intelligent. One of my friends that saw the incident after autechre said it was awful to watch, and he was rather disturbed by what he saw.
Next year, can the organisers use their heads a bit in terms of how they spend their money, coz I was really quite upset with the vibe this year compared to last year. If it happens again next year I don't think I could go again.

TIP: Get the security and use the security tactics used at the Boom festival this year. They had the rules right and exactly the correct approach.

Sad but probably true Psyclone, which is why I will have to think very very hard before going to another English (legal) festival.

Get Showtec Security, they were doing security at SGP and were awesome, no SAS combat gear, they all looked hard as fuck, but looked like someones dad rather than someones drill instructor, had a very visible presence without bothering anybody, and most of the time were pissing themselves laughing.
no thefts either...

yeah I have to say the Showtec were nigh on invisible except for where it mattered at SGP - and there was no trouble and no theiving as far as I know... they certainly didnt come round all the tents with a torch trying to catch out people doing drugs & putting a real downer on things like at glade and its not like them doing that actually prevented any crime at glade either...
I saw them laughing their asses off lots too... ... which actually improved the vibe! Maybe SGP is too small and unknown for the gangs of theives to bother with which is why it was uneventful for security.. either way I didnt have my happy vibe ruined by overbearing security once all weekend... which is alot more than I can say for Glade!

I had quite a chat with one of the SGP security, he was so sensible and when i said that id felt very intimidated by the GLade security he rolled his eyes and nodded! He said we are here to keep people safe and to make sure people who are smashed and hurt themsleves get help. we ceratinly didnt see any trouble except for the 'incident' with our nieighbours when i nearly got aggressive but walked away instead.......
