Yeah, that is a pretty dumb thing to do. I find a small rucksack / satchel or suchlike makes me enjoy a festival a lot more as I always know my money, camera and phone are attached to me without being really cumbersome in my pockets.
Obviously it's still nowhere near 100% secure, you can get mugged, things can fall out (unless you're sensible and buy a bag with a fully sealable compartment) and so on, but knowing that the worst that's gonna happen if some shit raids my tent is they steal my food and/or make a mess is a big plus for me.

carnt people as i dont think i would be legal so the festival couldnt do it , but if you had an old tent and put it up booby traped im sure you can think of how to booby trap it. my idea would be to have a pit dug deep down as the f*ckwit t*ating intruder put his?her hand down on the what looks like the bace of the tent they would fall down on sharp objects or in a load of sh*t and p*ss. but then again i wouldnt want to accidently fall when i off my t*ts. sod it just have some booby traped tents with alarms and that blue dye that doesnt wash out .. maby give me sum more ideas and maby do it your self. all though if there in gangs you dont want to be the one who starts beating them up as you could be cut up.
ive always said that you dont take to a festival what your not prepered to loose.
saying that the first glade i took a cd walkman with a cd walet with aprox 60 of my best cds. i was vert lucky but i didnt hear of any robbibng or owt. i did think that they should have the fest at different venues each year as (it would be like a free party and you have the adventure of finding it) the fence jumpers who i thought were the robbers.
i think that the best way is to know your niegbours and look after each others stuff as best we can. crime together we will crack it. yer right. there always going to be cu*ts just dont make it easy for the ba*tards. if you have a lot of money put it in your sleeping bag when your in it they arnt going to wakeyou up and ask if you can get out and hand them it are they.

If the security were as good as at Boom you wouldn't need to worry. When that caught a thief, they gave them a chance to give all the stuff back, then if they did not repent, they got the absolute shite beaten out of them, all their stuff taken off them apart from a small amount of money and their clothes, and thrown out.

i didn't bring anything of value to the festival. booze was vodka/coke mix in plastic bottles so no one would bother swiping it, otherwise it was just tent, clothes and sleeping stuff. i sewed a zip onto one of my back pockets on every pair of pants i brought to glade and used that for anything i didn't fancy losing. one of my mates brought an expensive mp3 player with him and i didn't understand why-plenty of music around you anyway. phones are a necessity of course but you just either bring an old shitty one or keep it on your person constantly.
travelling light is a good idea anyway...i nearly put my spine out carrying the "essentials," most of which i didn't use, all the way to near ID spiral to camp. next time i'm bringing a cheap tent i can leave behind, a change of clothes and myself.
