Hi guys,

Welcome to the Sunrise Stewarding Team. Most of what you will need to know will be covered in the briefing at the event itself, however here are a few tips.

1) Whilst stewarding is fun, you are also the eyes and ears of the festival and will be under observation from the local authorities and the stewarding coordinators. Bear this in mind when you go about your duties.

2) Take a bit of time to read your briefing document regarding emergency proceedings, etc, and ensure you learn your way around the site a bit so that you can help people out when they ask.

3) Don't be afraid to ask questions to the steward coordinators if somebody asks you something you don't know the answer to.

4) Be aware of your roles and responsibilities in whatever position you are placed in - be that car parking, watchtower duty, crowd management or what have you.

5) Be as nice as you can! As well as the eyes and ears, you are the most visible face of the festival crew.

Hope you have an amazing time stewarding at the event. Have a great one and remember to show up for your shifts!

Hey Bra1nstorm, from here there's Manc Tom and myself (Whats For Breakfast-I have a mystery invisibility affliction on FW just now) stewarding, also first timers. Come along to the FW camp and introduce yourself- the more the merrier! You'll be the 75th or so, so you won't be solo for long Very Happy

Danofsunrise, do you know when stewards have to arrive at the festival? Just in the process off renting a car to get down and we're not sure when we have to be there. Cheers.

I read on the website that we have to have to be at the site by 4pm Weds for briefing and the last shift will finish(as in could be- we can't all do the last shift but it's a risk) 7pm Monday.
What happens next is a good question though (just because it means I can get even more excited jump for joy)

Hi gang,

Just introducing myself. and hoping to meet some new friends - and hopefully catch up with some old ones. I'm down for the Green Stewards - I haven't done it before at Sunrise, but have done similar stuff elsewhere.

If I say I sold ice-cream to the Small Faces at the Shepton Mallet Show of 1966, you can get an idea of my vintage (but I was a very young lad then). Over the years I've been at many Glastos, IoWs etc and really miss the great Stonehenge gatherings.of the 70s and early 80s. This year I've got tickets to Glasto and Exit in Serbia, which should both be fun.

Are there many other 'senior' stewards? I'll be camping on my own, so I'd like to pitch near others in the team, regardless of age. As long as the noise is kept down after 10:30 !!!

ps Come on Liverpool - we can beat Chelski AND Man U !!

Worked Sunrise last year as a co-ordinator and had great fun and worked with some top people. With any luck it will be the same this year!!

Ok, more questions- does anyone know if there's a bus which passes close to the festival site from Yeovil? 'Coming in to Yeovil junction, as are others I'd've thought and need onward options...

I was wondering the same thing, I know there's a shuttle service running from the 29th for festival goers but as for us who are stewarding and need to be there the day before I don't know.
Apparently a taxi from Pen Mill station to the site is about £11, add a couple of quid more from Yeovil Junction. Been advised to book a week before if wanting a taxi on the 28th.
I'll be coming by train from London to Yeovil, prehaps the green stewards will give us some info on getting to the site nearer the time.

There is a bus from Yeovil to Tintinhull. Tintinhull is just across the road from the site. Ask a local in the pub if you want directions.

Yeovil, Bus Station 0820 0920 1020 1120 1220 1320 1420 1520 ---- 1635
Yeovil Hospital (Kingston) 0824 0924 1024 1124 1224 1324 1424 1524 ---- 1639

Tintinhull, Lamb Inn 0834 0934 1034 1134 1234 1334 1434 1534 1550 1649
Tintinhull, Post Office 0835 0935 1035 1135 1235 1335 1435 1535 ---- 1650

If I remember rightly there is a pub in Tintinhull which does very nice food.

Just googled it. The Crown and Victoria.

If you are on facebook its worth looking at the Green stewards group to see if you can get a lift that way.

Another one is the Lamb Inn, with the bonus that the bus from Yeovil stops right outside.

Although it's probably changed a bit from when I was last in there ?? years ago - I think a pint was about half a crown then! And a peacock's tongue sandwich was another shilling...
