Hi all,

Sadly, we have had to cancel the onsite shuttle bus taking people from car park to camping. This is due to financial reasons - i.e. It was turning out too expensive for this year. We looked at charging the public as a way of being able to keep the service however the drivers were not keen on this.

We will do our best to come up with an alternative and let you know first if anything turns up.

Cheers,
Dan

thats grim, the car to camp is a nightmare.

you need to get something sorted, you really do.

how much would the charge have been?

Im hoping this is not the first of organsiastion mishaps cos you really musnt go down that road again....

I'm with Joy on that one Confused I think the car park is a lot further from camping this year too. Not everyone has someone to help or can afford horse n carts. This is a bit worrying to say the least - would it have cost punters more than the extortionate £10 each some of the horsedrawn people were charging last year? Yes, please get something sorted soon, other festivals do. At Big Chill there are special stewards to help if needed.

Festival trolleys from here:

CARP TROLLEY

...but I think HJ and Ghosty recommended some too.

Can't find the thread now, but Torbs definitely said the car park was further from the campsite this year, and I think the layout has changed.

Dan said this:

The bus will be free.

The point of the £15 set fee is that it is per cartload. Each cart should be able to hold the belongings of 5+ people on them, presuming they are not carrying too much each. On the other hand if you have a big yurt and lots of kids, I understand it is tricky but I hope that the horsedrawn drivers can be talked to and set a reasonable price in special cases. Most of them are reasonable, particularly as we are picking and choosing this time round.

I would be very interested to hear any other feedback about this subject, particularly after the event this year to see how the new system works.

Thanks, Dan

...but obviously things have changed re the bus. He also goes on to talk about horsedrawns, so unless anything has changed there too...well, who knows???

Something like that would be more than adequate for your festival needs. Big wheels mean it will handle rough ground and a long handle means you won't strain you back.

Lesson over from the FW health and safety Team!!

Hi all,

Sorry for the controversy. The shuttle bus was a luxury for 2008 that has never existed before at Sunrise but did not entirely fit into our eco-strategy. Glastonbury and most other big events do not put on buses to move public around site, people are expected to walk.

There will be some horse and carts and rickshaws still, and I am seeking alternatives on the free shuttle bus. The problem, as I say, was that the drivers did not WANT to take money.

I will keep you informed as to how things develop and if any solutions appear.

BTW, the new campsite is no further from the car park than the other. Its just slightly reorientated.

That'll teach you to drive to a festival! Yeah, just take a wheel barrow or something of that ilk. Maybe some of us can make a sideline lugging people's stuff around. "Fancy a lift madam?"

I thought of that already TW. I could hire out the variety of wheelbarrows and trolleys I already have to festival n00bs. One of my trolleys doubles as a toilet too don'tcha know Rolling Eyes Well I never understand what you're talking about either.

If the carpark is at the top the hill (and the campsite at the bottom hopefully) just roll everything down the hill?

And after the festival... Well it'll be a tough Monday morning for a number of reasons
