Greetings Peeps,

Its hotting up...
Only 7 weeks to go until Sunrise 2008 is underway and can’t you just feel festival season in the air? The sun is coming out a spring is in our steps....
Sunrise promises to be the most dynamic, creative, rootsey, inspirational, full of heart family festival on the scene...

1. Sunrise Listed in Guardian as having Top Green Credentials of all UK festivals.

Sunrise is establishing itself as one of the favourite festivals on the scene with its rootsey cutting edge vibe and amazing green credentials.
We have received some fantastic previews so far for this years event....

Top Green UK festival on Virtual Festivals
http://www.virtualfestivals.com/latest/features/4433

Listed Best Green Credentials in The Guardian
http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/2008/mar/21/festivals.tenofthebest?page=all

Listed in top 20 uk Festivals on Times On line

2. TPRF Thirsty Thrift Tent – Free Mineral Water to all at Sunrise

TPRF will be providing free mineral water for all at Sunrise this year. A tractor from Cheddar Water will come with a bowser once or twice a day to refill and the mineral water is given away free. Empty litre bottles are on sale at £2 each for those who want to buy and refill... but the general idea is that you bring your own container hence cutting down on the mountain of plastic bottles that can occur at events. Our friendly astrologer JC will also be setting those interested up with their cosmic companions in an astrological speed dating and hosting a special length workshop on Sunday. See www.cainer.com for his daily horoscopes.

3. Are you in a band? Do you want to play on the SolarAid Main Stage at Sunrise 2008?....

Are you a band/DJ? Do you want to play on the Sunrise Mainstage and receive a free live DVD filmed by Inside Us All?
Get ready because this week we are launching our Rising Stars Competition.
Rising stars will be run online via the Sunrise Website and voted on by the public, and a panel of 3 judges. An eflyer will be sent out shortly with info on how to enter.
Enter and you will receive a confirmation email that will contain a link to forward to your friends and supporters to vote for your entry. Vote and you get a chance to enter a draw for a Pair of Sunrise tickets (if you already have them we will refund you if you win!)
Entries close in the 12th May 12pm and 12 Finalists will be announced after the public vote closes on 15th May, and a winner will be selected by a panel of 3 judges and announced on 17th May.

RISING STARS COMPETITION

4. Launching the UK Festival Best Toilet Campaign award!

We were nominated for 5 awards at the UK festival awards last year, and believed that we had a good claim over all of them, but the one that has our name on it is the Best Festival Toilets.
This year Sunrise aims to be Number One in the Number Two Business!
65% of Women sited that the most important factor in determining whether or not the go to a festival is the Toilets, and all of us know what a terrible experience it can be... I wont go into it!
We at Sunrise pledge to make the Sunrise Toilets the most pleasurable on the circuit. We haven’t always got them right in the past, but we have been pioneering festival compost toilets, (which incidentally do not smell at all as well as helping the environment) and we have 3 variations this year for festival goers to try, and we are committed to lighting each one to avoid those terrible midnight fumbles!
“We believe in saving the Planet from the bottom up,” Says their founder Hamish Skermer, one of our toilet providers who has revolutionised event toilets in Australia. Check out Hamish’s toilets along side the Thunderbox and The Treebog by Jay Abrhams, the winner of last years compost toilet design comp.

5. Sunrise has been granted its 3rd year license with no objections!

Thanks to South Somerset District Council, The Police, Environmental Protection and the Local Residents and Dan and Sarah Sunrise’s licensing team we have got our 3rd year license with no objections.

6. The Bimble Inn area with Hot Tubs!

We are excited to announce that the Green Crafts will now be happening in the May Fair and Permaculture areas and we will have a new Bimble Inn area with Hot Tubs, The All-In late night Texan poker hall, Games for grown ups and Dress Up shenanigans. The Bimble Inn is a long standing festival favourite with its stage and traditional ales bar in a gigantic Tipi and the concept is expanding for the first time into a whole area, joining the May Fair, Out of The Ordinary, Green Innovations, Campaigns and Communities as this years new editions.

See You There

Love
The Sunrise Crew.

The addition of Hot Tubs sounds great! But am wondering a few things about them. Will there be a charge to use them? If so how much? Or are they free? Also what is the dress code for them - clothing optional or clothing compulsory?

They had a hot tub at a certain other festival I went to a couple of years ago. But it was very expensive to use them. You had to make a reservation to use it. And the price was £30 for half hour! Only worth it if you're in a group of 4 or 5 people. Too expensive if you're on your own though.

Also I am just curious what these "Games for grown ups" are exactly? Are they like those wild games you get on Club 18-30 holidays? Or just games that will not be of interest to children? Just curious. I see that you had this at last year's festival, but did not investigate it when I was there.

Well if they are those sort of games, I would guess they take place very late at night. Not during the day when there's plenty of kids around.

Sorry. Not sure about price of hot tubs yet or any details related to them. Will find out what I can.

Games for Grown-ups includes stuff like tug-of-war and a giant adult bouncy castle, I hear. Possibly mud-wrestling and the like.

Gelatine-free jelly just doesn't have the right consistency for wrestling...

Any more info on these hot tubs? In particular the prices(if not free). I get the feeling it might work on a booking system and the prices could be in the region of £30 per half hour. Quite expensive. A bit prohibitive really, for those people on their own.

The Shambala festival has hot tubs. Don't know what the prices are. Though I do know you have to book according to reports I've read. It's not just a turn up at the hot tubs at anytime and just jump in affair.
