Confused

I for one certainly can't afford to be buying stuff on site for that long - not so bad over a weekend, but Sunrise is longer than that.

Was there a 'no food' policy last year too?

yeah kind of, i think they didn't want you to bring stuff with excess packaging or any 'junk' food. I'm pretty sure that pasta n stuff is ok tho...but its not like they are going to check, we took some iced gems for munchy madness and didn't get arrested or owt Laughing

They certainly weren't enforcing any food embargo last year...

Have to say, that this sounds absoloutly crazee!

Sunrise: Festival for middle-class hippies with big bank balances!...

My g/f is taking her 2 young kids...Firstly, I would doubt that there will be sufficient kid-friendly food available...Not all children want nut burgers and lentil patties with nettle soup.
Secondly, over the best part of a week, the food bills for a family of 4 will be astronomical!
The very cheapest meal (not snack) in ID Spiral last year was over £5
so that is £20 per meal, say twice a day...perhaps 3 (cos kids do get hungry)...
That is over £100 in food alone...

Shocking!!

What - have I missed something? Who said 'no food?' Shocked

Last year we came on the train and Big Red Bus so couldn't carry much and had to buy most of our cooking ingredients on site. I'm afraid we found it far too expensive, even though we managed to stretch our spends by buying chips some of the time.

This year we are coming in a car and fully intend to bring stuff and cook a substantial amount ourselves. If there is no food or limited food, why does the forum still say this:

'The Sunrise Big Red Bus Service offers a chance to go off site and visit a supermarket in Yeovil for essential supplies'.

I think festivalchooks is right that they mean junk food etc, but I don't know where they said that. Confused

the info came with our tickets for last years festival. Def said about junk food with loads of unecessary packaging. It also said stuff like no loo roll containing bleach (recycled only) and only special shower gels or soaps that don't contain chems like sodium laureth sulphate or whatever its called. But it is last years info i'm on about, so that may not apply this year.

i guess if we put all our food in plastic containers that we can take back with us, then it shouldn't be a problem
like julz's g/f, i will also be taking jazz and she is always hungry!!

First off hiya every1, hello, hello. we will be coming to this one (missed last years), and I am also confused about the food situ(??), I remember reading somewhere that junk food was discouraged, but in the conditions of entry we recieved with our tickets it says nothing about not bringing in food, so I am quite surprised to read on the website now tht food is not allowed. we will be bringing our (almost) 5 year old who is quite a fussy eater, and I shall (hopefuly) be incubating another, so buying all on site is not an option (even if we could afford it). if a mod could clear this up it would be great.

(sorry to be so long winded)

oooooo getting close now init.

Yeah, I remember seeing that about shower gel etc, but didn't notice references to junk food - don't eat it anyway, 'cept for the chips coz we were broke at the end Crying or Very sad

Hiya bitti - I shouldn't worry too much, but as you say maybe Sunrise could put us right on this one. Wink
