Forest at Betws Mountain UK Tek 2005

I’d been tripping for a while, when the night drew in and darkness fell on Betwys Mountain. The ravers danced the evening away whilst stragglers wander about the countryside tripping over their own feet and performing amusing acrobatic acts without even realising. At this moment I got bored and being in the state I was decided to go for a stroll in the woods.

The darkness enveloped by senses as I wandered deeper and deeper into the forest, the faint boom of the main techno rig was still strong but tapering off amidst the buzz of the forest animals and insects. The moon was high in the sky and lit my way adequately, although at times I lost my footing I was remarkably calm for a guy in shorts and sandals wading though dense forest undergrowth half out of his mind on LSD with only the moonlight to guide me.

Walking over the soft ground I suddenly fell, the pine needle floor of the forest gave way and I found myself lying on the ground almost completely consumed by the forest floor. When alone, I'm usually scared of the dark, especially in the forest, but for some reason I wasn't at all bothered. My whole body was enveloped by tingly waves of emotion; the forest was speaking to me! I could feel all the insects creeping all over me, covering me, my face, legs, arms, body, everything! This should be freaking me out, I think to myself, but it's not, it's entirely a pleasant experience.

I lie there perfectly still for about half an hour when after a while it feels like I'm becoming part of the forest it's self, the movement of the insects and noises they make seem to speak to me, peaceful happy things they say, not in any language you can translate, everything seems peaceful, happy and perfect. Strange because the reality is I 'm lying in a damp ditch in a dark cold forest with insects and things crawling all over me.

After a while dreaming, I pick myself up, say thanks to the forest and wander out back to the thump, thump, whiz of the 100K techno rig.

Safe, Dr....

Hehe, my mate got to play on that rig in the morning. Got a text message from him going "I'm playing on a 100K rig, yay!" Laughing

100K sound system?!!! And I thought the Valve was the only one with an obscene amount of power Shocked

any more info about UK Tek itself? I know its during spring bank holiday weekend, but all i have is a couple of moby numbers from a flyer which the sound riggers were giving out at last saturday's gener8r night (the heaviest nights of the year in bristol so far!)

I spoke to the guy who runs the rig which looks like a big green monster after the gener8r night and he said it's deffo on, but would not say where, although I got his mobile number. I think it would be wise not to post ANYTHING about it on any web forum or anything in case the pigs get hold of the info early. So, my advice is to ring the rig numbers you have nearer the time, and PLEASE don't post any details anywhere on the web!

Safety, Dr....

It was a link up rather than a single rig. 60+ K link-ups aren't uncommon at techno squat parties which is always nice Very Happy

And yeah, UK-tek is on again this year AFAIK. Dunno the details though, Squatjuice is probably the place to check...
