First off Glade has given me yet more incredible memories. It is truly a magical land.
I fell asleep on saturday evening so i missed all the overkill goodness that night, i'm really gutted.
Anyway, I'm just curious what folks opinions are on 2007's capacity if glastonbury festival is on. Will it be smaller same size or even bigger than this years fest. I kinda missed the intamacy of 2005's. What are your thoughts on capacity?
And location wise, it would be a damn shame if aldermaston was a no go due to a few noise complaints.

it was way to big this year in my opinion, having thought about it.
ive been to all 3 and there was too many people and too many tents this year.
too big.
if it gets any bigger i would seriously consider not going.
and glade is my home.....

I also think it would have been better if there were fewer people there. The problem is that they still need the same amount of money coming in (thanks to the cost of stuart's thugs) so if they shrink Glade, the costs will go up even further. I for one can't afford another price big increase next year, since there's a good chance I'll be buying two tickets.

Surely you'll be working by then so able to afford it?
wasnt he supposed to be coming this year?
Glade really shouldnt go up any more, otherwise its taking the piss (£10 more and thats it) and will price people out slowly, especially if you intend to do several festys over the summer.
Think I'll only do one next year as I want to travel!

I really hope capacity goes down but to be honest i cant see it happening, first year the intimacy was amazing but would be more then happy if it went back to last year size and they manage to sort out fence jumpers. I guess next year its a test to see whether the organisers are doing it for the love or they want to make alot money.
I also hope they change location where there is no sound restrictions, more in the middle of nowhere- i know this is unlikely to be next year though.

Capacity: I didn't think there were too many people there but I don't think it should get any bigger. In fact it couldn't get any bigger, not on that site anyway.
Although I enjoyed the charming atmosphere of the first Glade, it seemed at times like not enough people had turned up to the party. I thought this years' was the best yet (but then I didn't get robbed and was camped ten yards from a water point)
Location: beautiful as the Wasing estate is, would people be happy to move to a different, more remote site if we could have the music louder and later? I think I probably would, and it might also cut down on the fence jumpers and tent robbers who know exactly where we are now.

I didn't go the first year, only in 2005 and 2006 and although I was disappointed they put the capacity up, in reality I don't think it was noticeable, at least not at the tents I went to at the times I went to them. I definitely don't want it to get bigger though.
Much as I like the site, I really think it needs to move - it's the only way to fox fence jumpers.

Not to be a moody bhuna, but I met some people in the first year (who were proper hardened festival goers), when I was a wee drugless tyke and they said one thing that stuck in my mind.
'Three years'
They reckon nearly every good festival starts to go properly pear-ed after 3 years cause it begins to eat itself, so good that it cant possibly sustain what made it good in the first place!
Im not prognosticating or wishing (obv) but Im SO interested to see how Glade grows after the crucial 3rd year and what direction it takes.

Petey couldn't come this year because his dad bolloxed up the family finances and didn't have the guts to admit it until it was too late - they lost their home two weeks ago. It's actually a blessing in disguise as their old place was out in the middle of nowhere and the new house is close to Petey's college, so he should save a packet on gas costs. Either way, I've got a bucketload of things that need to be sorted - like plane tickets to the US for MLK day in Feb (it will work out easier for my to go there than the other way round).

I really hope they don't increase capacity next year.
All the tents I went to on the Saturday night were very crammed!
And they really need to have it somewhere else next year; due to
jumpers, sound levels, and just to have a change of scenery.

1st year fantastic everyone waved and smiled when you went into a tent but some could be a little empty.
2nd year chav twats over the fence changed the atmosphere a bit didn't feel as friendly plus stuff being nicked. Stiull bloody great though.
3rd year felt more like 1st year not as much thieving scum but more people with a like mind up for a dance. .was a bit crowded but that would be all the fence jumpers not the amount who where supposd to turn up. And still bloody amazing plus new peeps to meet.
4th year lets hope new location and same sort of size event to keep intimacy but plenty of new people to meet and mingle with.
My tuppence anyway

less people...thats the key i think. New venue defo needed too.
I have been to all 3 and the best one was the first one in 2004.
The vibe was ace and the whole thing felt like our little secret.
2005 was very good.
i was frankly a little let down by 2006 and i think it was a mixture of things that did it. It's inevitable though, that with more people the vibe will change...
less people. different site for 2007. Those are two factors that may pursuade me to go again.
Whoever said that 3 years thing Chardy, had it spot on.

2004 was certainly amazing and i've been last year and this year and its never been anywhere near the same as 04...they are expanding the numbers but not expanding the site, the tents are getting so crammed and the camp site..well! we arrived Thursday about 5pm and there was hardly any space left already! They need to get a bigger site if they want to keep upping the amount of people, surely that's logical....
However, saying that 2006 was FAR better than 2005 for me I didn't get assaulted this year, w00t!!
If they found a new, larger site I wouldn't mind paying £20 more, the regular fence jumpers wouldn't be around and it could take it back to the 04 vibe.....maybe..please!

The only two times the extra people bothered me where when we arrived on Thursday - at 12.30!! - and had to struggle to find somewhere good to camp... and then again on Thursday evening, when there were just far too many people rammed into the ID Spiral area. The latter problem could easily be solved by having some music in at least one other tent, though!
Apart from that, I really didn't notice the increase in numbers. And tbh it wouldn't really bother me if they did put it up again, I find the whole 'our little secret' thing a bit cliquey. I prefer lots of people to be able to enjoy it... I really don't want to end up with a Glastonbury type ticket situation whereby they all sell out in a day, and you have to spend the entirity of that day on the phone/online trying to book.
As I've said in about 100 other places, though, I really really think a new site is needed. If the noise restrictions are such at Aldermaston that you can't hear the music, then we need to go elsewhere.

Im not in to the 'our little secret' bit but i do think the vibe changes as it gets bigger and it becomes harder to make new friends by seeing people reguarly. If it gets bigger i dont know that i'll want to go...
(i am a bit fickle though and would probably cave in and get a ticket anyway!)

I dont think a new site is all that feasable. The organisers have a built up a good working relationship with the local council and police and theyve built it up steadily over the three years.
If you go to say Kent County Council and say "is it ok if we have 15,000 ravers in this place for a long weekend?" - you just wont get the licence surely.

also it costs a fortune to get a site evaluated by the local council as to wether or not it's suitable for a festival in the first place. although you could get around that by using a site that has been used for festivals in the past.
