This bit of prose on the first page of the programme really touched my heart last weekend, so i thought I'd type it out in case some of you missed it!
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEKEND
Our deepest fear is that we are
inadequate. Our deepest fear is that
we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that
most frightens us. We ask ourselves,
Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous,
talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be? You
are a child of God. Your playing small
does not serve the world. There is
nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel
insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children
do. We were born to make manifest
the glory of God that is within us.
It is not just in some of us:it is in
everyone. And as we let our own
light shine, we unconsciously give
other people the permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own
fear, our presence automatically
liberates others.
By Marianne Williamson (- whoever she is she has the spirit of Glade!)

A nice sentiment but I don't want to be reading about God at a festival!

I was thinking this too, but I googled the poet and its not really a 'religious' God (the bad kind, obv) but more of a spiritual god, which isnt as bad.
Still Im a pessimistic git so it just got this:
And this:
From me

Take enough drugs and you'll become god (t least, that seems to be what happens with me & NOS every so often)

I get it, and I got it that it wasn't about "God the father" from church too, but I just kindof find that phrasing about God turns me off a bit. I'd rather it said "you are a child of the Universe" or "you are a child of Creation" or something, it would carry less religious baggage with it then.
But then again I am a witchy old

I tend to view God as a kind of universal oversoul (those of you who have watched B5 will know what I'm talking about - large chunks of Minbari & Narn religious philosophy were based on the concept). I also think of Gad as being asexual (as opposed to male/female). Read the poem in that light and there is a very different spirit to it (very much more )

Presuming there is a "god"....
No point god having a sex, it can spontanoiusly create and destroy anything at any time, so it can reproduce as much as it likes anyway, IMVHO.

I know there is a God, as I was meant to get my period during Boom Festival, but got it one week early this month. So there you go!

Praise be!!! I testify to the lord
oh and by the way 'God' is just another name for rikniktopdjs...okizay??
sweet poem joy-girl
ps i mean most things that have the word god in it, are easily definable in relation to weather they are 'church like' or say 'holistic'
because it wont say forgive our sins, or hallelujah, or hosannah in the highest blah blah blah

very nice too. christianity is all based on myths. read jesus mystery or Joseph Campbell's, The Hero with a Thousand Faces, jesus and lost goddess. i am prolly christian but tend to view god in a differant rather that of the fundamentalist. i am not practising but nor am i sure of what i believe.
