I have been promised my refund ever since the announcement of how to go about getting one, and the alternative festival at the Big Chill which we are unable to attend.
The last email I received from the festival office was from Vicki who said "We’ve ordered a large chequebook from the bank, they are being very slow about it. We expect it within the next couple of days and will refund you asap." That was on the 15th of July, it is now 28th. I have explained that I have 3 very disappointed children who are asking what else we can do during the summer. I am waiting for the funds to be able to answer that quest.
PLEASE PLEASE refund our tickets. We have been to the festival 3 years now, brought loads of friends who all paid for tickets, some can go to the Chill others can't! Please sort this out now, we have waited ages.
Please refund our tickets we are truly skint and yet we mustered the money to come to the festival last 3 years, - it's not fair that others who bought their tickets through ticket offices other than the Sunrise office have been honored with refunds whislt we are still waiting.

. . . . . . . . silence . . . . . . .
I have this feeling that silence is all I am going to get now. I don't know how many people are in my position, and I have given them the benefit of the the doubt, that I am perhaps one in a couple of thousand. But it is strange that you can get processed VERY quickly when you are buying a ticket from Sunrise, but suddenly they can't handle the numbers who need the refund.
Don't get me wrong I do feel really bad that the festival couldn't go on for the festival organisers not just for our family who were there and watched it. It must have been heart breaking - but business is a risk and you have to follow the rules of business if you are going to charge people money for entry and then have to refuse entry - you have to honor that break in the contract. It is natural law, ethical and just honorable. How else will people have trust for a future contract?

I expect all the organisers are busy on-site at Big Chill at the moment. I wouldn't expect a reply on this forum for at least a week. I would keep trying the official channels, i.e. phone, email.

Been trying to organise a refund from BTS since yesterday morning-been on it most of the day and last night in fact...all I have experienced from them so far is endless misdirection and shoddy attempts to deliberately confuse and misconstrue that which I am asking them for-
They even went so far as to accuse me of having received and signed for imaginary tickets that have never been sent to me! ...Defrauding them?-Spare me!
Its now far too late now for us to make any proper arrangements to go to the festival-the child care needs for our youngest kid,who would not have been accompanying us,cannot be arranged at this late point in time-More so,from where we live, its one long way to travel without proper tickets and possibly face the risk of subjecting our other two kids to yet another massive disappointment at the hands of Sunrise and Co.
BTW-According to BTS's code of practice-If you should accept their offer of the E-ticket/promisary note and get turned away at the gate by the Chills security-(Remember,both Sunrise and the Chill have stated on their respective boards-No valid ticket,no entry).they (BTS) would no longer be legally liable to reimburse you for any loss-They would have fulfilled their legal obligation and supplied you with a ''ticket''-Yes?
...Refund?-I was told;''You'll have to try and arrange it through Sunrise'', ''just hope that Sunrise are in a generous mood after the event''I was informed.-This is not at all how things work-
If they haven't sent you a ticket, they have breached their own 'terms and conditions' and are thus liable.
Sunrise, one of BTS employees informed me on the phone yesterday. ''looked like it was about to go tits up''-Whatever that might imply for all concerned.
Does this intimate that no refunds will be forthcoming?
I'm not at all interested in the endless chatter on these boards about who are the nice people and who isn't to blame for this glaring failure to meet what in the REAL WORLD would constitute a LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATION -this whole business has become grossly shambolic and doesnt fall in line with any notion of ethical business practice I can possibly ever imagine.
I'll be blogging all the correspondence I have had so far with BTS later on today, just so as there can be no misunderstandings regarding what I have said here and BTS cant go ahead and accuse me of indulging in wack ''conspiracy theories',as one of their mails last night accused me of .
Link to follow-If it gets taken down on here, look out for it on UK Hippy.com or E festivals boards.
If Sunrise IS going down-Make sure someone is legally responsible to cover your personal loss! Let them deal with Sunrise.
Us folks are not here to pick up the tab for anyones mess-
All any of us wanted was to go and party-With as little complication as possible.
I want my refund BTS!

Sounds like you people not only work for BTS. but really haven't got anything intelligent to say for yourselves.
What part of 'Its too bloody late for us to make arrangements to go' dont you people understand?
Thousands of disgruntled Sunrisers? BTS told me yesterday only a handful of people haven't had tickets yet-Thousands of satisfied customers yet! Your pathetic 'we the people act' aint going to win any prizes here comrade!...Now about that refund?.....
Love,

..."Been trying to organise a refund from BTS since yesterday morning..."
its been nearly two months since sunrise! why leave it so long?
surely being an intelligent fellow you have read the other posts from people who have been trying/wanting to go to sunrise@BC and teh problems that there have been with tickets. Is is not best that they sort out those people and the tickets so they CAN go ( as they ARE doing) rather than spend precious time on one person whos demanding a refund two days before the event!
you talk about the "REAL WORLD" but I do seriusly wonder how strong is your grasp on it.....

Thats a neat way of avoiding any of my questions... maybe you would like to expand on what you have been doing (re tickets) for the last 8 weeks?

Count yourselves lucky, my work colleague paid over £1000 pounds for tickets to the Olympics and has just found out a few days before she's due to fly out that the ticket shop she bought them from is a fake! No chance what so ever at getting a refund.
NB: If you purchased tickets using a credit card (not a debit card) and never received them then the credit card company has to refund you, it's the law.

Oh crikey, looks like there is some anger building up over this. .......
I have been trying for several weeks now and I really think that Sunrise have had plenty of time to sort people out. I know they are busy because if you call the office number you can speak to someone on site who says that it will be sorted when they come back from the festival!!!!! Why didn't they sort it before they went, like Vicki promised me they would on the phone.
My worry is that the office (and it's mobile phone) is only going to be running until the Chill Festival, after that its all just gonna go down the tube. I am hoping that I am wrong, and that they will honour their agreement before the anger gets the better of me too.
I have family in Glastonbury, and I am sure that the next time I am down it won't take me too long to track them down!
It's all so familiar - Waveform last year had all kinds of problems with performers, rigging people not getting paid or getting their equipement back and the organzers just ignoring their pleas saying oh that was so and so who promised that, he no longer works for Waveform (family gathering). . . . . .

I think anger is a perfectly normal human expression when dealing with lowlifes who want to take your dosh, rip you off, disappoint your kids and then gleefully set about ripping the piss-(Not to mention dumping families in a sodden miasma of a field-all because you couldnt legitimately face the consequences of calling the festival off when you knew it was firmly face down in the shit, all because you were far too ''cool'' to bother with dealing with boring things like insurance)You all have names and addresses and by all the gods you could ever invent-I'll see you in court-this is one scam really you wont get away with.
How many more people are going to end up out of pocket as a result of Sunrises 'ethical' policies-All I can see looking around the web is a trail of performers, traders and people who have provided services for your festival, all of whom have been cheated and denied payment for their efforts,a history which started back along with Family Gathering Ltd and has reached its tawdry apotheosis with the 'new' management team Festivalife -You were dealt a second chance to get it right after your show of ineptitude, and what do you do? You go rip people off who had the decency to support you, deny them tickets and sell access to the festival who bailed you out for a higher admission than they charge the punter-Wankers one and all-go F**k off and listen to your own fleetwood mac albums,no doubt we paid for them too!

Whoa there!
I might be a bit less expierianced wit this festival malarky and i know im a wee bit younger then most but my humble age has tought me this..
loosing face and temper will do nothing for the situation.
Ok so you have money issues, and you would like a refund. Thats fair enough buit consider this, if the festival had gone ahead then you would not be eligable for a refund so financially you would be in the same situation now. If this did (and im talking hypothetically here) happen then this says to me that you might need to look at how you manage your money.
Secondly...
Manners, they cost nothing but mean everything. These organisers have worked long and tough to provide a festival/expieriance and the idea and dream that surrounds sunrise. By buying a ticket you are acknowldging this mentality and the ideals that surround the festival, with this in mind might you jst look at the posts in this thread and realise your manners arnt quite there.
to finish...
they are busy.
if you could not afford to buy a ticket then you shouldnt have done. Its a shame the festival was cancelled.. thus is the nature of the uk's weather
Please dont "vent your spleen" on this forum is such a tone/manner. Its not big and its not clever and throwing your temper around is going to do nothing but bring hostility to the forum and possibly embarris yourself. Be paitient grown up (dare i say it) and loose the attitude.
Yes yes your angry that you havent had you refund but these people are just that.. people. You are not dealing with a large co-orparate setup that has endless man/lady hours and funds to do what they please.
Have a cup of tea and some butterd toast (organic) take a deep breath, and rest assures these people are not thiefs, they are trying to do good things her and that is no easy task in this day and age. Loose the capitalist 'it is my right to' mentality and wise up to the idea it might take a while to get your refund, but for goodness sake be sensible about it.
How many smily fluffy people turned up to sunrise...
Alot. and i bet a large portion of those people would be after refunds. now i heard a rumor there was no cancellation insurance for whatever reason. Im betting this has made life hella difficult on those organisers if correct... so bear that in mind, sit back and chill a little.
Please remeber why you come to these festivals and the mentalitys and manners that come with being part of something like this.
I too am awaiting a refund as are several of the menbers of this prestigous happy creative friendly forum, and you dont see us ditching our manners and ideals in favour of 80 piecies of capitol.
excuse the spelling ive been drinking to celabrate a friends 26th.
Peace and love.
Stompy

well said stompy! I'd just like to say that for those of you knew to this forum, it is an independant forum set up volunteers and people who love the festival experience, it is a way to bring together a community and to disseminate information. The organisers of the festival do not run or moferate the forum, they only have a voice here...
Coming on and accusing 'us' of this shambles is incorrect and for those of us who are here regularly it is personally upsetting.
I totally understand your anger and believe it's completely valid, I've read your posts and understand that you have tried every way to attend the festival, but due to crap organisation on the part of either BC, sunrise, BTS or the post office it was left too late. I think it's such a shame that sunrise have failed again, and I'd be very surprised to see any more of them.
Stompy is correct in that the people are all just that, they are good people trying to manifest a dream. It's gone tits up again and screwed many people over. Ranting with such anger and negativity, while making you feel better no doubt will not actually achieve anything on here other than to put peoples backs up. I would reccomend the official channels of phonecalls and emails after the festie is over. I'm sure they will try everything possible to sort your refund, it may just take time.
I know you don't want to hear it, but you will just have to be patient.
As a parent I know how frustrating it must be to let your kids down and to struggle to sort out a replacement, and for this I'm sorry. I hope you manage to get it all sorted out asap and that you have a great summer with your kids.
Cheers Tony.
